An apple is just a storehouse of vitamins and nutrients. Each apple contains up to twenty percent fiber, as well as a lot of iron, potassium, calcium, sodium, magnesium, phosphorus, iodine. The fruits contain vitamins A, B1, B3, C and many others. It is enough to eat one large or three small apples daily to replenish the amount of vitamins required by the human body.

Domestic gardeners everywhere grow these healthy and tasty fruits. And breeders have bred a lot of these useful trees. Today we will talk about an apple tree called Junga, which gardeners often affectionately call "Snow White".

Apple-tree variety Jung

This is a variety of apple trees that is gaining popularity not only in the central regions of Russia, but also beyond the Urals and in Siberia. The variety bears the beautiful name of Jung. It is considered half cultural, because it was bred by Altai breeders by crossing the varietal White Naliva with the wild Invincible Grell in 2001. The result is a medium-sized tree with a branchy crown with fruits that ripen from July to September. Already in 2004, the apple tree passed all the tests, after which this modest beauty gained insane popularity due to its unpretentiousness and good fruiting.

Note! The iodine contained in the seeds of just one apple replenishes a person's daily requirement.

Wood

Description of Jung's apple tree - the tree is not tall, it grows up to 2-2.5 meters, less often it grows up to 3 meters. It has not an extensive crown of medium density. The main branches are almost parallel to the ground. If you do not prune, then many extra shoots will grow, which in turn will lead to a noticeable decrease in the average size of the apples.

Apple tree sapling

Many smooth brown shoots grow from skeletal branches, which are slightly pubescent and have a lot of lentils. The leaves of this tree are the same as those of most apple trees: the color of the foliage is light green, the shape is oblong, toothed medium in size, wavy along the edge.

Frost resistance

The variety can boast of high frost resistance - the trees feel good even during the harsh Siberian winter. They can withstand temperatures down to -40 degrees. If, nevertheless, there is a slight freezing of individual branches, then they quickly recover.

Fruit

The apples of this variety are six to seven centimeters in diameter, yellow-amber in color, and seem to shine through when fully ripe. Fruits weighing up to 70 g have inherited the qualities of their progenitor - White Naliva. They have the same sour-sweet taste and aroma. The apple is attached to the branch with a stalk. The fruit has a cup of medium size, half open, with a deep funnel. Bulb-shaped seed nest. The inside of the apple is loose, juicy flesh of a very light creamy shade. Tasters rate the variety at 4.5-4.8 points.

The chemical composition of the fruit:

  • sugar - 11.4%;
  • titratable acids - 0.8%;
  • P-active substances - 200mg per 100g.

A tree with apples, just as calibrated: one to one in shape, size and color. The apples are round without ribbing. The peel is thin with the presence of a wax bloom.

Snow White is a late summer (apples begin to ripen in mid-summer to October), a versatile variety. These apples are eaten fresh. They also dry, cook various preserves, jams, jam, jelly, compotes.Juice is squeezed out, which is simply drunk fresh or sterilized and rolled up for storage. Wine and cider are also produced from the juice. The disadvantage of this variety is that the apples do not stay too long - the shelf life is only one month.

The apples of this variety are simply filled with the sun, maybe that's why Junga loves sunny places very much. Although the tree is so unpretentious that it also feels great in a small shade. The best place for planting will undoubtedly be a hill, but so that there are no large drafts.

Agricultural technology of cultivation

Landing

It is necessary to prepare a place for planting Jung's apple tree in the fall, after harvesting. To do this, a hole is dug in the prepared area about a meter in diameter and sixty-five to seventy centimeters deep. The removed soil is mixed with compost, humus, sawdust, fertilizers. Lime is added to acidic soils. The soil is placed back into the pit, watered abundantly and left until spring.

Jung's apple tree

In the spring, as soon as the soil thaws, you can start planting an apple tree. They dig a hole of the same size again, throw a little superphosphate and ash on the bottom. A little bit of the excavated soil with a tubercle is added from above and the seedling is lowered, strictly vertically, carefully straightening the roots along the formed tubercle. Fall asleep with the remaining earth. From above, the soil must be mulched to maintain moisture and protect the young tree from weeds.

A few important notes:

  • It is more correct to buy seedlings in special nurseries or from friends. The seedling must be grafted.
  • If the seedling was purchased in the fall, it must be buried for the winter at an angle of 45 ° C, and in the spring it must be planted according to the above method.
  • Adding fresh manure to the pit is not recommended as it will damage the roots of the plant.
  • Nitrogen fertilizers will decrease the survival rate.
  • Before planting, the roots of the apple tree must be soaked in a growth promoter for better rooting.

Despite the fact that Snow White (Junga) is a self-pollinating variety, the presence of a pollinating apple tree nearby does not hurt. This should be taken into account by the owner of the apple orchard.

Fruiting

Jung's apple tree fully begins to bear fruit from the fourth year. Until that time, it only "shows" the fruits. From the fourth to the twelfth year, it bears fruit every year, then begins to "rest": full fruiting occurs once, in other words, the fruits will be every year, but in one year more, in the other less.

Apples begin to ripen in the second decade of July and until mid-September. There is no need to delay picking ripe apples. Due to the increased juiciness of the variety, fruit rot or falling off is possible.

Summer residents describe the fruiting of the Jung variety as follows: “In the first year, only two apples grew on the apple tree, the taste is just a miracle. In the second year, it turned out to collect seven kilograms of amber fruits, in the third year, about the same, but in the fourth, about one and a half buckets. By the age of eight, the harvest had risen to thirty kilograms. "

Important! For a stable harvest, the tree must be properly pruned. Remove excess shoots so that the tree and apples receive a sufficient amount of nutrients.

Disease and pest resistance

Jung's apple tree is resistant to many diseases and pests. In a rainy summer, there is a chance of scab.

Apple tree dwarf cabin boy

If you graft a varietal apple tree Snow White on a dwarf stock, you get a low-growing tree one and a half to two meters high, with characteristics inherent in the basic species (the difference will be only in the height of the tree).

Apple blossom

The apples are the same - light yellow in color, sometimes with a slight "tan". These juicy apples have a sour-sweet taste, with a moderate density pulp. The harvest can be harvested somewhat later than from the scion - in late August, early September. But apples are stored a little longer - up to one and a half months.

Apple-tree columnar Snow White (Jung)

In Altai, another apple tree was bred with the same characteristics and by hybridizing the same two species: White filling and Invincible Grell - columnar Jung. This apple tree is slightly different from its “relatives” in terms of ripening. It begins to bear fruit at the end of September, therefore, it belongs to the middle late species. But these fruits can be stored until the New Year.

Like all columnar varieties, this tree is of short stature. Raises from the ground up to two meters, less often up to two and a half. Shoots extend from the trunk, which is much thicker than that of ordinary apple trees, at an acute angle. They never become full-bodied branches and there will never be apples on them.

The fruits of this variety stick tightly to the tree trunk. Leaves are light green. By the time of fruiting, it also differs from the middle layer and the dwarf - it begins to bear fruit from the second year. In the first year, it blooms quite abundantly. But experienced gardeners recommend removing all flowers for continued wellness and better growth.

Apple-tree columnar Snow White (Jung)

Up to four years old, a young apple tree gives a small harvest of about five kilograms, but subsequently it gains momentum. The apples of the columnar Snow White are larger, weighing one hundred to one hundred and thirty grams. Absolutely the same size, shape and color. She took the color of apples from White Naliva: light yellow, almost white, with an amazing taste, sweet almost without sourness.

This variety is very resistant to diseases and pests. It tolerates the cold a little worse, but if it is well insulated for the winter, then it will winter without damage even in the Middle Lane and in the Urals.

Important! Apple trees of the Snow White variety, like all columnar trees, are very decorative. They bloom beautifully, look great with fruits, and are very interesting in winter.

The crown of the columnar is small in width (less than sixty centimeters). Consequently, on an area that would be occupied by one large tree, four such columns can be planted. This means that their yield is much higher than that of ordinary apple trees of this variety.

This variety has its disadvantages. The apical bud of this tree must be very careful. It is better to insulate it for the winter so that the tree does not stop growing. Although there are rarely cases when, after the freezing of this bud, the tree gave a couple of additional shoots, and each of them subsequently behaved like a separate column. Despite their shape, these trees also need pruning, so they need to be looked after as much as the rest of the apple trees.

In general, it must be admitted that Jung's variety is very interesting and deserves the attention of domestic gardeners. Snow White can and should be planted in your backyard plots.
