Pear Lada is a variety that has taken root well almost throughout the country. It has many positive characteristics, which explains its popularity among gardeners.

Pear Lada: variety description and characteristics

The variety was bred by scientists as a result of crossing such varieties as Olga and Lesnaya Krasavitsa. From them Lada received all the positive qualities, which guarantees the possibility of its cultivation in the Non-Black Earth Region and the Moscow Region. We are pleased with the high level of frost resistance of the tree, no special measures are required for its insulation for the winter.

A distinctive feature of Lada can be called a short ripening period of fruits. An adult tree can reach a height of 2.5 - 3 m. The trunk is quite well developed. The crown can be in the form of a pyramid or funnel with an average density of branches. This greatly simplifies the process of cutting it. On the trunk, the bark is dark in color, and on the branches it is lighter. The leaves are distinguished by an oval elongated shape, they are dark green in color. Their edges are edged with small notches.

In spring, medium-sized white flowers are formed on the tree, collected in an inflorescence-cluster (5 - 8 pieces in each).

Pear fret

Since the common pear Lada belongs to summer trees, its fruits are of medium size. Their weight ranges from 99 to 120 grams. The core of the fruit is poorly developed. Juicy and loose, the flesh tastes sweet. The peel of the pear is smooth and smooth. It is orange in color. The fruits can be used to make pear jams and preserves.

On a note: keep the crop fresh in a cool place. The shelf life is 2 - 3 months.

The fruiting period begins as early as 4 years after planting the seedling.

Features of planting and care

When choosing a place for planting pears, it is recommended to give preference to an open and sunny area where there are no drafts.

Important! Sunlight should fall on the crown of a tree for at least 10 hours a day. Otherwise, the yield will be lower.

The soil on the site must be fertile, with deep groundwater. This is due to the fact that the Lada root system does not tolerate an excess of moisture.

The best seedlings for planting are considered to be 1 - 2 years old. When choosing seedlings, you should pay attention to their appearance: the trunk should be even, without visible damage. The root system should be dark green with no dried out areas.

The best time to plant seedlings is spring. It is recommended to start preparing the landing pit in the fall. Its dimensions are within 100 X 70 cm. The bottom of the pit is covered with a layer of soil, which consists of soil from the site and humus. It will not be superfluous to finish off superphosphate and potash fertilizers into the mixture for preparing the pit. During the winter, the ground in the pit will settle. With the onset of spring, the substrate inside the pit is loosened and a small mound is laid out of it, no more than 8 cm high. It is on it that the root system of the seedling is placed. Its roots must be carefully straightened and covered with earth, which is compacted after the end of planting work. The root collar of the seedling should be above the soil surface, protruding 2 - 3 cm.

Growing

Important!To ensure the stability of the seedling, a wooden stake with a height of at least 1.5 m is driven into the bottom of the pit, to which a young tree must be tied.

After filling the hole, the seedling is tied to a peg. At a distance of 1 m from the trunk, a small ditch with a depth of 30 - 40 cm is made around the perimeter. The tree will be watered in it. After planting, you need to pour 1 - 2 buckets of water under each seedling. The soil surface is mulched with sawdust, hay or dry grass.This will help the moisture stay in the ground longer and not evaporate.

Pear of this variety is partly self-pollinated. To get a good harvest, it is recommended to plant pollinator trees of the following varieties near Lada:

  • Severyanka;
  • Rogneda;
  • Chizhovskaya;
  • Otradnevskaya;
  • Space.

In this case, pollination of flowers will be better. When choosing pollinators, the main factor is simultaneous flowering.

Important! When planting seedlings, it is necessary to maintain a distance of about 4 m between them, so the trees will not shade each other.

Watering pears is carried out only in severe drought, but it should be abundant enough. At least 5 buckets of water are poured under each plant. Watering trees frequently can cause root decay.

For normal growth and development, Lada needs feeding. You need to start feeding only 3 years after planting the seedling. For the first time, the tree has enough nutrients that were laid in the planting hole.

For the first time, fertilizers are applied immediately after the snow melts. For this, nitrogen fertilizing is used.

Advice! It is recommended to apply them in dry weather. In this case, it will give good results.

Secondary fertilizing with mineral fertilizers is carried out in the fall.

With the onset of spring, all dry branches must be removed from the tree, and the trunk must be whitewashed with lime. This will help protect the pear from the development of diseases and pest attacks.

Care

A pear, like other fruit trees, needs crown formation. To do this, trim it. This procedure is performed in the fall and spring. All dry branches and young shoots must be removed. Only strong and healthy branches should be placed on the tree. Too long shoots are shortened by a sector. Places of cuts are lubricated with garden varnish or varnish-based paint.

Since Lada has a high index of winter hardiness, in areas with mild climatic conditions there is no need to perform special measures to prepare the tree for winter. It is enough just to whitewash the trunk with lime. Copper sulfate can be added to the solution. This will help avoid rodent attacks in winter. If the climatic conditions are harsh, the root system must be insulated before winter. To do this, the near-stem circle is sprinkled with a ball of peat. Its thickness should be at least 30 - 40 cm.

Experienced gardeners recommend keeping track of the amount of snow on the branches during heavy snowfalls. If a lot of it has accumulated there, it is possible that the branches will break off.

Pear Lada is resistant to scab infestation. But to prevent infection with other diseases, trees must be sprayed before the onset of the sap flow period. For this, a urea solution is used, with which the trunk is abundantly lubricated, and the soil around it is also watered.

Important! Tree buds cannot be treated with this solution. They can get burned, which will significantly reduce the number of fruits.

In order to avoid the development of various kinds of diseases of fruit trees, near the pear it is necessary to remove fallen leaves in a timely manner and remove weeds.

With proper planting of seedlings, ensuring sufficient watering, timely fertilization and pruning, the Lada pear will delight the gardener with tasty and juicy fruits.
