In 1937, at the I.V. Michurin, a group of scientists (V.K.Zaets, Z.I. Ivanova, M.P. Maksimov) under the guidance of Professor S.I. Isaev developed a new apple species called Narodnoye. It is characterized by late-summer (early-autumn) ripening, high productivity, regularity of fruiting, early maturity.
A hybrid variety obtained by crossing the well-known Bellefleur-Chinese with Papirovka. It was included in the state register in 1964, it is recommended for cultivation for the Central, Middle Volga region.
Apple tree folk: variety description
The culture belongs to the semi-dwarf types of apple trees. Differs in average vigor of growth, has a rounded, slightly spreading crown, like the Gem variety. A mature specimen reaches a height of no more than 4.5 meters. Brown trunk and skeletal branches. The tree gives straight, thick shoots of light brown color, their annual growth is 35 - 45 cm. Fruiting occurs on kolchtaks, pods, fruit twigs, spears.
Leaves are light green, wide, ovoid or elongated. They bend at the bases, have wavy serrated edges. The surfaces of the sheet plates are wrinkled, matte. The fruits are round and medium in size. Some specimens have narrow dividing seams, as in the Papirovka type.
The skin of the fruit has many small gray subcutaneous dots. The apples are light green at harvest time. By the time they are fully ripe, they become bright, golden-yellow.
The pulp is yellowish, aromatic, loose, juicy, sweet and sour in taste.
Chemical composition:
- acids - 0.4%;
- sugar - 11.4%;
- dry matter - 13%;
- ascorbic acid - 7.7mg / 100g.
This apple variety has a high and regular yield. One adult tree can produce up to 160 kg. The tree has good winter hardiness.
Disease and scab resistance is above average. The culture is self-pollinated. This means that fruits can be set in any weather, regardless of rain, sun, the absence of bees and other flowering plant varieties.
The traditional apple-tree of the Narodnoye variety is fast-growing. After planting, flowering may begin next year. After 2 years, she gives the first harvest.
Apples begin to ripen in late August, continuing to sing until early September. The fruits can be stored for quite a long time (135 days) - until January. For comparison: the Big Peasant apple tree, its fruits last for about 100 days.
Apples are great for processing. They are used to prepare delicious apple jam, compote, as well as preserves and marmalades.
Landing
It is preferable to plant the culture in the fall, starting from the third decade of September until mid-October.
The site for the plant should be chosen well-lit, with fertile, breathable soil. The distance between trees should be at least 2.5 - 3 m.
Before planting a tree, its roots must be soaked in water for 5 to 6 hours. Landing step by step:
- Prepare a hole 30-40 centimeters larger than the root system of the plant.
- Prune the crown and branches a little.
- Fill the pit with organic fertilizer or dissolve it in water intended for irrigation.
- After planting the plant, shed it using at least 3-4 liters of water.
- The stem of the varietal apple tree must be tied to a peg.
Care
The species is considered unpretentious. In the near-trunk circle, the soil is periodically loosened, mulched with humus, peat. The culture is not characterized by excessive thickening of foliage. Annual pruning of the apple tree is not required. Only diseased, damaged, broken branches are removed. In spring or autumn, in case of weak branching, lateral shoots are shortened by a third.
Plants of the first year are watered at least 5 times over the summer, use at least 2 buckets of water. In early August, watering is stopped. Mature trees are moisturized less often (3-4 times). It is enough to take 10-15 liters of water.
Apple trees are fed in the spring (with nitrogenous substances), in the fall (with phosphate-potassium compounds). In the summer - organic.
The Narodnoye variety has good immunity. If a tree suffers from a disease, insect pests, various preparations are used to process plants in spring and autumn.
Common diseases, pests:
- scab. In the spring, it is treated with Topaz. After the end of flowering, irrigate with a colloidal sulfur solution, use the composition Hom;
- powdery mildew. In the spring, spray with the drug Skor. Treated with copper sulfate after flowering. After harvesting, irrigate with Bordeaux liquid;
- bacterial burn. Treatments are carried out with copper chloride.
It is not so difficult to grow an apple tree of the Narodnoye variety on your site. It is enough just to properly care for her.
