Therefore, it does not hurt to get acquainted with the parameters of fruit trees in order to choose the right ones accurately. History of creation

The variety originated around 1965 when the Melba and Vesna apple trees were crossed. At the same time, the red early did not give the required indicators for frost resistance, but the variety took root well in the southern regions. Moreover, there was drought resistance. Small plant height, size of fruits, crowns characterize Red Early. But the high taste that a ripe apple possesses does not leave anyone indifferent. Official tests have been carried out since 1977, and the apple tree was included in the State Register in 1994.

This variety was bred by breeders V.K. Zaets, Z. Ivanov, G.A. Lobanov, employees of the V.K. I. V. Michurin. Recognized as suitable for growing in the Central Black Earth Region of Russia. The main distinguishing feature is self-pollination. The crop ripens almost annually, except for difficult natural and climatic circumstances, starting from the 4th or 5th year of the tree's life.

Red Early, like an apple tree, the description of which corresponds to a summer variety, yields a harvest in late July and August. The tree is classified as medium-sized, reaching 5 meters. The relatively small size makes it easier to care for and pick the fruit. The crown of a young plant is rounded, subsequently taking a spreading shape. The width depends on the formation, otherwise it reaches 3 meters. The first crop appears at the age of 4 or 5 years.

Up to 27 kg of fruits are harvested from the tree when they reach 7 years. These are high rates. Other properties – in the following list:

  • Taste qualities of apples are rated up to 4.47 on a tasting scale of 5 points;
  • The look deserves 4.5. Hence, the fruit has excellent taste and beauty;
  • Apple weight - from 90 to 120 g;
  • Smooth skin is slippery, medium in thickness. Under the bright color, the pulp is creamy in color, tender and juicy, despite the dense structure;
  • Average winter hardiness, the tree freezes by 1-1.5 points, which was established earlier (in 1967-69) during tests;
  • The culture has the same average resistance parameters in relation to pests and diseases. Can be affected by fruit rot, scab, cytosporosis, apple cancer. Pests attack: leafworm, apple moth and moth.

On a note. In the regions of the Volga region, this variety has been grown for a long time with an average yield. In the Leningrad region, fruiting is average, but stable, every year. The tree behaves in the same way almost throughout the country.

Red apples contain vitamins A, B, C, E, K, as well as iron, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, useful acids, antioxidants. Whether it is this variety or the Leto Krasnoe apple tree, the risk of cancer of the lungs, prostate and intestines is reduced from fruits that have a red or reddish color, and heart activity is normalized. The circulatory system returns to normal due to the presence of easily digestible iron; fiber lowers cholesterol.

The planting of the Red Early variety is carried out in the optimal period - mid-April, until the buds have blossomed. Up to this point, the nutrients are inside the tree, which ensures the complete safety of the seedling, the expense of its forces for rooting. The correct laying of plant parts before development is the key to yield. In the fall, they begin to prepare for planting with leaf fall, finish at the end of October. In the south, this period can be extended. But for rooting, the plant must receive up to 25 days until frost occurs. Such trees acquire immunity to cold over the winter.

A week before planting, an illuminated place in an open space is chosen. Prepare a 90 cm pit, loosen and fertilize the soil at the bottom. After planting, the tree is watered with 20 liters. The root collar is left at ground level. Trees are placed at a distance of 4-5 meters with rows organized at a distance of 3 to 4 meters.

The cultivation features are as follows:

  • Bright sunlight;
  • Mandatory plentiful, but not frequent watering;
  • Pruning for spring recovery. Shortening stimulates dormant buds, shoot formation. Thinning involves the removal of growing branches inward. Form the crown;
  • Top dressing with mineral fertilizers 2 times a month;
  • No pollinator needed;
  • The harvest is annual, in late July to autumn, when flowering in May and June.

Simple care is carried out from March to November:

  • In the spring, they inspect, cut off dry branches, feed;
  • In the summer they regularly watered, treated against pests, cleaned the soil near the tree;
  • In the fall, the trunk is whitewashed, insulated.

This type of apple tree is not very disease resistant. They are fought as follows:

  • From scab to bud break, they are sprayed with Hom in the spring. Re-treated with copper sulfate before flowering;
  • Fruit rot is fought by removing affected fruits;
  • Substances "Skor", "Topaz" help against powdery mildew;
  • From apple crayfish, diseased parts of the tree are cut off, after which they are treated with Bordeaux liquid.

The tree can wilt from pests. These are green aphids, apple moth and moth, leafworm. From the first type, the apple tree is treated 2 times a week with solutions of soap, tobacco. The moth is destroyed by chlorophos (solution), like the moth. Nitrofen fights the leafworm.

Red early variety has a number of advantages. The following list reflects them.

  • A beautiful view of the fruits from which you can make decorative compositions;
  • Excellent taste;
  • Early ripening of the crop, fast summer variety;
  • Drought tolerant, the tree is suitable for growing in hot climates;
  • Sufficient fruiting stability.

Not without flaws. The following disadvantages are noted:

  • Small fruit sizes tend to diminish over time;
  • When ripe, the apples crumble, in connection with which you need to hurry to harvest;
  • Fresh apples lie only a month in the dark and cool;
  • Fruits are poorly transported;
  • The variety is not suitable for industrial cultivation.

For comparison, an apple variety of the Red Ruban type is very frost-resistant (-52 degrees), yields a harvest in the fall, the fruits are stored for 4 months. Regarding the Leto Krasnoe apple tree, the characteristic description of which classifies the variety as summer, we can say that ripening occurs somewhat later, but the fruits reach 200 g, growing on a short tree.
