Among the Geraniev family, perennial pelargonium stands out. It can be a shrub or semi-herbaceous plant with few-flowered or multi-flowered inflorescences of various colors. A typical representative of this genus is the beautiful Pac Viva Carolina pelargonium.

Description of appearance

Pelargonium of the Viva Carolina variety belongs to ivy-leaved densely double or ampelous plants. It grows in a cascade, has hanging or creeping shoots.

The shape and size of the bush varies. Shoots grow from 20 cm to 1.5 m. The plant is usually about 15-25 cm high. The leaves are like ivy leaves. Fleshy, glossy, dark green in color.

The flower shape is of four types:

  • simple;
  • semi-double;
  • terry;
  • rosebud.

It blooms profusely from March to November under good conditions. It is known for its white buds with a slightly pink tint on long peduncles, which soon turn into voluminous pink-lilac flowers with a greenish core. They resemble garden roses. For comparison: Princess Caroline Pelargonium geranium blooms with bright red inflorescences with small flowers of irregular shape.

Differs in long flowering, petals practically do not fall off, after flowering they dry up in buds. With age, the inflorescence plants become more terry, acquire a brighter color.

Note!One spherical inflorescence of young Viva Carolina pelargonium consists of at least 5-7 individual flowers. A one and a half year old plant in inflorescences has about 15 of them.

The plant is not demanding on the soil. You can plant in the purchased universal earth mixture. Differs in vigorous growth. It gets stronger over time.

Pelargonium Pak Viva Carolina does not require special care. Water should be regularly watered with water at room temperature. Overdrying and excessive overflow should be avoided.

Use for fertilization from spring and throughout the summer complex mineral fertilizing 2 times a month (for example: Plantofol). Then, periodically, when watering, mix water with Fertika liquid fertilizer (or analogs) for indoor and balcony plants.

Additional Information. To make it bloom and branch more densely, at the end of winter, you should cut off the bare stems and pinch the shoots. This will speed up the growth of side branches and bud formation.

It bushes itself, the bush is compact, has short internodes. Pinches are done only if necessary to correct growth.

The plant is quite cold resistant. Withstands a drop in temperature to + 7 ° С, sometimes it suffers a short-term decline down to −1 ° С. It can easily overwinter on a non-insulated balcony if the pelargonium is carefully wrapped in a thick cloth. Does not require a dormant winter period. Worse heat. Watering during frosty times should be reduced. May bloom in the presence of artificial lighting.

You can plant in the apartment from the end of February to November. In December and January, you should refrain from transplanting the cuttings. For landscape purposes, planting should be done after frosts, melting snow and warming up the earth.
