Almost all gardeners and summer residents face the problem of waste accumulation (branches and grass). Accordingly, the issue of disposal for most of them is quite acute. The best solution to the issue is the purchase of a garden shredder, with the help of which the disposal of weeds, branches and spoiled fruits will cease to be a problem.
What is a garden shredder for
If large parts of a tree can be used for firewood, and the grass can be sent to a compost pit, then the situation with branches is quite serious. It is possible to solve the issue by burning, but it is not environmentally friendly, and it is also fire hazardous. The optimal solution is shredding.
Any garden shredder is a technique that facilitates the disposal of plant residues. The equipment has another name - a country shredder. But whatever the name of the device is, in fact, it is an ordinary crusher.
Recycled raw materials can be used for composting, heating the house, along with firewood, for mulching, or even for smoking meat (when it comes to shredded fruit chips).
Those who only dream of a garden, and those who already have a summer residence, sooner or later decide to purchase this device anyway. Moreover, there is a sufficient number of proposals on the market.
Most of the garden shredders in use today are electrically driven. They work from an ordinary single-phase electrical network. Their capacity is 2 thousand watts or more, which is why the equipment is capable of processing not only an ordinary tree branch, but also hard wood (for example, walnut).
Products from a number of manufacturers are available for sale. This includes Bosh, whose products have continued to delight consumers with an optimal quality-price ratio for many years.
Bosh garden shredder device
Any Bosch garden shredder, regardless of modification, is a housing in which a shredding system and a motor are placed. A funnel is attached to the upper part of the housing, into which the raw materials that need grinding are fed. Depending on the model and its purpose, the funnel can be narrow (for branches) or wide (for grass).
The principle of operation of the Bosch shredder
The principle of operation of any Bosch garden grinder is similar to a meat grinder. The waste goes to the hopper, where it is thoroughly crushed to the state of chips. The rotations of the rotor are directly transmitted to the shaft (some models use a chain or belt). Grass and branches are processed in a Bosh garden shredder using a special knife. This simple design and operating principle is very effective.
On sale you can find not only simple options for a Bosch garden branch shredder, but also serious devices that can process fairly thick branches. Structurally, such machines are much more complicated and more perfect, but their use in a summer cottage is not very rational.
Features of Bosch shredders
Each Bosch wood chipper can be equipped with an electric or petrol engine. It is easier for the latter to work with large branches, it is mobile and does not depend in any way on the location of the energy source. But such models are most often industrial and require connection to agricultural equipment - a walk-behind tractor or even a tractor.
Electric models are much more compact and easier to use. But when acquiring them, an important detail should be taken into account: they are very rigidly tied to the connection point and are somewhat weaker in terms of power.
Studying the technical characteristics of country shredders, you should pay attention to the design of the knives, because the quality of shredding ultimately depends on them. In the Bosch lines, there are three main knife options:
- disk (devices with them are suitable for chopping grass, tops and small branches);
- milling (shredders cope with large branches, provided that they are dry);
- universal milling and turbine (the most preferable option, capable of working with any country waste - large and small, dry and wet).
Bosh models at a glance
Bosch branch shredders are divided into 2 main series:
- Rapid 2000;
- AXT 25.
The Rapid 2000 is powered by the mains but is lightweight and portable. They are equipped with engines for 2 kW, developing up to 3700 revolutions of knives per minute. The diameter of the funnel of the described equipment allows you to work with organic waste with a diameter of up to 3.5 cm. The main and spare (if necessary) waste container for such models must be purchased additionally.
As for the cutting mechanism of Rapid 2000 shredders, the drum system is typical. It assumes that the knives are placed around the main rod, the structure is closed on top with a casing. This design minimizes the likelihood of injury during operation. The throughput of the tool can reach 80 kg / h. Tool weight is 10-12 kg. For ease of transport, the models are equipped with a handle and castors.
The AXT 25 is available for sale with 2.5 kW motors. Their funnel is large enough to pass branches up to 4.5 cm in diameter. The garbage bin is usually included with the product. This is a faster series - its throughput can reach 220 kg / h.
8 AXT 25 knives are arranged in a cone shape. They move in two directions. This parameter is set by pressing the corresponding button located on the body. Also, the cutting mechanism can be adjusted to the thickness of the crushed material. This series of Bosch shredders is somewhat less mobile, since the unit weighs 30 kg. However, it can be moved by the handle using the chassis.
Criterias of choice
When choosing a summer cottage shredder, you should pay attention to the following points:
- what volume and what kind of organic waste is planned to be crushed;
- what size of outgoing product will suit the outlet;
- how safe the purchased equipment is;
- how much the equipment costs.
As for parts and spare parts, when choosing them, you should be guided by the manufacturer's recommendations, which can be easily found in the instructions for the equipment.
