Tomato is one of the most popular crops in farmers' gardens. In Russia, the number of fans is growing along with the emergence of species with high yields, frost resistance and immunity to diseases. One of these varieties is the Windrose tomato. The authorship belongs to breeders from St. Petersburg. The main feature is resistance to adverse weather conditions in our country. In 2003, this variety was included in the State Register of Plants for Growing Outdoors.
Characteristics and description of the wind rose tomato variety
- Productivity: 7 kg per m²;
- It belongs to the undersized variety, grows up to 45 cm;

- Up to 6 tomatoes, weighing 130g, ripen on one brush;

How to grow tomatoes Windrose
Sowing seeds for seedlings. Season: early May.
5 days before sowing, soak tomato seeds for 10 minutes in a special solution: 30 g of salt per liter of water. Those that surfaced are thrown away. Dry the rest of the seeds. Then disinfect by pouring a new solution for 10 minutes: 0.1 g of potassium permanganate and 100 ml of water. Cover the seeds, spread on cheesecloth, with a plate and leave in a warm place until sprouts appear.
Choose a container for planting seeds: plastic pots or another container with a diameter of 10 cm. Fill with equal parts of sand and peat, leaving 2 cm to the brim. Sow 2 seeds in each container and water.
Bury tomato pots in the soil in a cold greenhouse filled with biofuel. Cover with foil on top, secure along the edges with stones and earth, set arcs on top and cover with covering material. After 7 days, cut holes in the foil above the pots and close again. Water 3 times a week with warm water.
Landing in open ground. Season: mid June.
Sprinkle with warm water once a week.
You need to feed tomatoes 1 time in 2 months in the morning or in the evening with phosphorus or potassium fertilizers. Exclude nitrogen fertilizers.
Disadvantages of the variety:
- To increase yields, you will have to spend money on fertilizers;
- The ripening period can reach up to 120 days from the moment of sowing.
The advantages of the variety:
- Resistance to low temperatures, waterlogging or drought - the variety is recommended for the northern regions;
- Ripe fruits do not crack;
- Immunity to fungal diseases;
- Tomatoes can ripen at home.
