Feature and Description

This type of cucumber is suitable for cultivation:

  • in a greenhouse;
  • in the open field.

These are self-pollinating, multi-fruited and early-maturing plants that have up to 6 ovaries per node and bright green fruits with a whitish downy, reaching 10 cm. The first harvest can be harvested in 36-37 days.

Bunch cucumber Mels

Cucumber Mels F1 is a favorite of summer residents, as it does not have bitterness and voids inside the fruit. It is a pleasure to grow it in the country or in your personal plot.

Growing features

This species can be grown by seeds and seedlings.

Planting by seeds

Seeds can be planted both in pre-prepared open soil at the beginning of June, and in boxes at the end of March - early April. The soil for planting Mels cucumbers is prepared as follows:

  1. Choose the sunniest place, dig up the soil and prepare a bed.
  2. Disinfect the ground with specialized means.
  3. Fertilize with manure or saltpeter.
  4. Plant the pre-soaked cucumber seeds in the holes. The indentations should be no more than 2.5 cm deep.

With timely watering, the first shoots can be detected as early as 3-4 days.

Seed preparation

Planting seedlings

You need to plant pre-soaked seeds in boxes or other container in early April. It is advisable to buy land for cultivation in special stores. It is already enriched in advance with all kinds of trace elements necessary for the proper growth and development of plants.

Important!

After sowing the seeds, the container must be covered with foil or glass. This will create a greenhouse effect that will maintain the required temperature for quick seed germination.

Before the formation of the first three leaves, the temperature should be at least + 25C. Then it needs to be lowered by 5C. A week before planting, the seedlings need to be hardened: they should be taken out daily to the open air so that it adapts to temperature extremes. You need to start with 10-15 minutes, gradually increasing the duration to 3 hours.

Planting cucumbers for seedlings

It is recommended to transplant into open ground as follows:

  1. Moisten the seedlings in boxes abundantly so that in the future it will be easier to separate the plants from each other without damaging their root system.
  2. Carefully dig out a bush with the ground.
  3. Plant seedlings in pre-prepared holes, the distance between them should be at least 50 cm.
  4. Water abundantly.

Care rules

Any cucumber, regardless of the type, love abundant watering. This is not only beneficial for their proper growth, but will also contribute to abundant fruiting.

The culture needs both good watering and high-quality feeding.

Note!

You can make a rich formula using nitrogen and potassium in a 2: 1 ratio.

Cucumber care

Mels F1 is quite resistant to all kinds of diseases and therefore does not need additional treatment against insects, unless such are found.

Every day, up to 5-7 pieces can be collected from one bush, and about 20 kg in the season. You can read about this in numerous positive reviews on the gardeners forum. In addition, this variety, with its taste, is good not only fresh, but also canned.
