Description of the variety
Seed potatoes El Mundo grows up to 70 centimeters in height. Moreover, his bush is always erect, contains many leaves. The leaves are oblong with small denticles and are light green. The flowers bloom on the bush in a light purple color.
The variety is distinguished by its fertility. One bush can produce up to 30 well-ripe tubers. All tubers are oval and slightly oblong. The eyes on the tubers are barely distinguishable. The skin on the roots has an amber hue and a smooth surface to the touch. The pulp is light in color. One tuber weighs about 135 grams. Moreover, the starch content in potatoes is up to 14%.

The yield of the Elmundo variety is very high. Moreover, it can be harvested after 46 days after the first shoots. At the same time, up to 350 centners of selected potatoes can be harvested from one hectare. Harvest the entire crop in two stages. The first digging is done after at least 45 days have passed after the plant has sprouted, and the second - exactly ten days later.
For storage, it is necessary to equip a room with an air temperature not higher than +3 degrees Celsius. At the same time, it will lie for up to six months with the preservation of excellent commodity indicators of 97%.

The larvae of the Colorado potato beetle bring the most harm, since they are very voracious during the growth period. 30%, or even 80% less tubers are harvested from affected bushes than from a healthy bush. In the cold season, beetles sit deep underground, and it is almost impossible to get rid of them. To combat them, you can use bait or spray with preparations containing insecticides.
Colorado potato beetle and eggs
Most often, summer residents use folk remedies to combat the Colorado potato beetle. They are used when there is no desire to use chemicals. In addition, such actions benefit the potatoes themselves. There are several ways to get rid of the larvae.
First of all, it is dill. It has long been noticed that the Colorado potato beetle does not like the smell of this plant. Therefore, it is recommended to plant it around the perimeter of the area, as well as in such a way that one plant grows near two potato bushes. With this tool, the crop will be maintained throughout the entire growing period until the very harvest.
With the same success, you can plant such plants as next to potatoes:
- Beans;
- Beans;
- Calendula;
- Cucumber herb;
- Coriander.
You can use urea as a bait and repeller of the Colorado potato beetle. But it should be remembered that this tool only has the ability to scare off pests, but does not destroy them in any way. They use it in the spring, when beetles begin to multiply, or in the fall, to scare them away from their site and prevent them from hiding in the ground.
The solution is prepared as follows: a kilogram of potatoes is cut into small slices and poured with diluted urea. The ratio of water to urea is two to one. The mixture is infused for 24 hours. After that, the potatoes are laid out in cans and put in rows on the site. Throughout the day in them it will be possible to see beetles lying to the top with their belly.
The larvae are removed from the territory using a solution of urea with water, diluted in equal proportions. She needs to spray the bushes.
Coca-Cola is a great remedy for the Colorado potato beetle
The most unusual way to control pests is Coca-Cola. Many will be surprised by this, but still it is.This drink contains orthophosphoric acid, thanks to which many cleaned pans from carbon deposits or removed rust or scale. It is also excellent at fighting pests, since phosphorus is added to the insecticidal preparations that are sprayed on the potato bushes.
In order for the result to be positive, you must choose a clear and sunny day. Otherwise, in rainy weather, the drink will be washed off with rain.
Coca-Cola is bred in several ways:
- Mixture diluted with water in equal proportions;
- The ratio of Coca-Cola to water is five to one. In this case, the solution acts faster;
- For seven liters of water, only two liters of Coca-Cola are taken.
However, you cannot use undiluted Coca-Cola. In this case, it will not rid the area of beetles, but, on the contrary, will only attract a large number of insects that love sweets. When processing bushes, you need to spray the undersides of the sheets, because this is where the larvae are located.
