Broiler chickens, due to their rapid growth and weight gain, are more susceptible to viral and bacterial diseases than chicks of other chicken breeds. For this reason, a poultry farmer's medicine cabinet should always contain an antibacterial veterinary medicine. Ditrim is one of the most effective antibacterial agents. In the treatment of coccidiosis, pullorosis, eimeriosis, other intestinal infections and diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, infectious diseases of the respiratory tract, this antibiotic is simply irreplaceable.
The fact that the chicken is sick can be determined by external signs:
- Appetite sharply decreases, up to a complete refusal of food.
- The plumage bulges and becomes dull.
- The chicken has diarrhea and feathers around the cloaca are stained with excrement.
Composition and properties of the drug Ditrim
The effectiveness of the drug Ditrim is explained by the presence in its composition of such components as:
- Sulfadimezin (20%). Acts on E. coli, staphylococci, streptococci, chlamydia, toxoplasmosis pathogens and other pathogens of bacterial infections.
- Trimethoprim (4%). An antibiotic that prevents bacteria from multiplying and prevents them from migrating through the body.
The drug is classified as low-toxic, while the pathogenic microflora does not develop resistance to it. A huge plus is that the drug has a synergistic effect, that is, the ability to enhance the effect with each subsequent intake.
The release form is exclusively in the form of an alkaline solution. It is sold in bottles of 10, 20, 50 and 100 ml. Shelf life - 24 months from the date of production at a temperature of 0-22 ° С
How to apply
If the animals are injected with an antibiotic intramuscularly, according to the instructions for use, Ditrim for broiler chickens is given exclusively orally. For this 1 ml. the drug is diluted in 1 liter of water. By the way, the drug Ditrim for chickens that have come out of "childhood" is bred in the same proportions. It is necessary to give an antibiotic both as a preventive measure and with direct treatment. The medicine is given according to the following scheme:
- With prevention - three days in a row. Ditrim for broilers should be given twice a day after 12 hours.
- If treatment is needed, the antibiotic should be given for three days; then two days off, and again three days of medication. The course of treatment with the drug for Ditrim chickens should not exceed 8 days.
Complications, contraindications and restrictions
If, during treatment with Ditrim, the instructions for use for chickens were fully followed, there should be no complications. However, a significant excess of the dose of the drug can cause complications for the liver and kidneys of the bird.
According to the instructions for use, Ditrim has no contraindications. Except, of course, the individual intolerance of the bird's body to sulfonamides.
According to the reviews of experienced poultry farmers, today there are practically no analogues to Ditrim. Therefore, everyone who grows poultry on a personal plot should have this antibiotic in the first-aid kit.
